Michael and Shannon had a rocking wedding recently in Kansas City at the Magnolia event space in Downtown Kansas City.
It was cold but that did not stop their family and friends from partying to the sounds of Dj Alex Reed. When I mentioned to people I knew that I documented a wedding last weekend in frigid temperatures they all looked at me like those people are crazy. The thing is I like crazy and Shannon and Michael were troopers that embraced the frigid temps. So much so that we decided to head to the roof of their old apartment building to take advantage of a beautiful winter sunset for some portrait time. Not only was it a meaningful location for these two it allowed for me to be able to stretch my visual legs a bit and create some images that went beyond expectations. I love being able to create meaningful wedding photographs in Kansas City and choosing a location for portraits is part of that. The other part of the day is spent looking for real moments that not only define who my couples are but also will help them remember some of the crazy moments that happened at their wedding. I believe wedding photography should represent the authentic side of things and these two had many moments that fit the bill. From the start when Shannon’s bridesmaids could not figure out her veil to Michaels groomsmen slow dancing with a pole during the couples dance, to the end of the night sitting on the couch with a strange penguin decoration at the 21C Hotel in Downtown Kansas City, this wedding was packed with moment goodness. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.
Congrats Shannon and Michael!
Grandes momentos, un gran trabajo,
