Walsh Family Normal Day

Trying to break convention is often a difficult task. “Family photos” have been around since the dawn of cameras and have taken on many forms over the decades but the idea of having photos taken causes a sense of anxiety to this day.

The stress of making everything and everyone perfect often turns family photo sessions into a fury fueled by frustration, bribery, and exhaustion. I witnessed this seemingly odd ritual for many years before I realized perhaps we were missing the point.

Maybe family photos need to embrace the imperfection that is life. Perhaps family photos are more about remembering life at this stage rather than fabricating a possibly false reality. Perhaps the moments of trying to get a 3 year old to eat or go potty while wearing a chef’s outfit or those quiet moments as a family reading Dragon’s Love Tacos before going bed are the ones we need to remember.

More than matching outfits and fall colors documentary family sessions are pure authentic perfection in our option and the Walsh family proved that. I loved everything about documenting Spencer and L.B.’s wedding and I loved everything about witnessing them as parents. Enjoy a few of my favorites from our session at their house last week.
