Kansas City Weddings
There is an old southern wedding tradition that says if you bury a bottle of bourbon upside down on a day that has the exact weather you want on your wedding day you will get that same weather when your day rolls around. Then you must dig it up and drink it on your wedding day.
Katie and Adam tried their luck and buried the bourbon on a a nice sunny day in Kansas City in hopes this tale would come true. It worked! The temperature that day was perfect and within 2 degrees of the day that they buried it. Pretty remarkable!
One of my favorite parts of the day was Katie and Adam digging up that bottle of bourbon from the the backyard of Katie’s childhood home.
Instead of running around town on a “portrait scavenger hunt”, we drove around and they enjoyed some really bad bourbon. This was something I had never seen before and it will make a fun story for them to tell as time goes on. Plus Katie is a plethora of funny faces so her reaction to the bourbon was perfect.
Their ceremony at the Redemptorist Church in Kansas City was beautiful. Katie’s dad was so proud to walk his daughter down the aisle. All the while, Adam watched his bride walk towards him as he wiped away his happy tears. The ceremony was full excited glances and complete joy as they exited the church as husband and wife.
Adam and Katie had a spectacular wedding reception at the Carriage Club in Kansas City. Not a detail was missed by the always incredible wedding planner, Kindra Browne, of Spectacular Elegance.
The Lost Wax band carried the party off into the night with endless dancing and celebrating. Brooke’s mom even danced for the first time since her sons wedding several years back.
Katie and Adam had such a beautiful day and know how to have the best time. But more-so, they planned a day filled with special elements that will always mean so much to them and the people they love.
