Welcoming Elizabeth Ann

Here at Wirken Photography our goal is to be a family historian to as many people as possible.  We love to feel like one of the family and be included in monumental life events.

I had the opportunity to do just that with one of my past wedding clients, Julie and Chris.  They asked me if I would document the birth of their first child.  I jumped at the chance.  I have only done this once before when I documented the birth of Becca’s daughter, Charlotte, so to have another chance was exciting to me.  I love photographing births as I feel these photos are almost more important than wedding photos.  Almost.

It is such a treat to have images that mark the beginning of a new chapter in life.  Child birth certainly falls into the monumental category so I was thrilled to be able to do what I do best for Julie and Chris.  I am going to let the photos do most of the talking here but I must share one story Julie’s mom recalled.  She recalled the moment during Julie’s wedding that they had to have the seamstress come in and literally stitch Julie into her dress as the hook and eye broke.

Julie had to have a c-section and after the birth her mom looked at me and said, “now you have seen Julie get stitched up twice”!  So perfect mom.

Lets welcome Elizabeth Ann.

Chris presents to the anxious grandparents their newest addition to the family.

Love Chris’ face.  Such a proud parent.

In the nursery.

Congrats guys!  Thanks for letting me witness yet another milestone in your lives!

What a fantastic family treasure! You caught what family is all about and brought a tear to my eye. I hope to see a book of your photos published some day.

these are really amazing-so fun to see your skills in the delivery room. i do have one question. which hospital allowed you into the operating room? or how did you work this out with the hospital staff? I am having a c-section this april and would love to know how to get a photographer in there. GREAT work-as always 🙂

Shannon, it was not even an issue. I was really pleasantly shocked. Our clients talked to her dr. a head of time and everyone was on board. I came in, they gave me scrubs and away I went. I was amazed and appreciated the access that I got. If I remember it was St. Josephs off 435 and State Line.

Tyler-
so happy for you and the family that it was so easy. most hospitals seem very stringent when in comes to c-sections. you give me some hope 🙂
