I just spent another amazing week at Roots Workshop in Cape Cod teaching as well as soaking in some well needed r and r. I am normally one of the first ones to leave the workshop house and take that bittersweet trip back home to Kansas City. This year though Pam and the boys met me and we had the most amazing time hanging on the Cape with the others and then onto Boston. I am pretty sure that Pam fell a little bit in love with this part of the country and we will be coming again and again.

The boys took to this place immediately. They were just kids again. Totally unplugged and just running around like it should be. Old screen door slamming as the boys run outside to play.
This was our view many mornings from the sleeping porch as the boys would take off barefoot across the lawn in their pj’s to go play.
First time the boys have been to a beach and the sand was so fun. The seaweed, however, they could have done without!
Alex really did not like the seaweed…I love how he is sucking in his stomach.

Family self portraits….NOT EASY! We got one though, and only lost on lens hood into the water in the process.
The boys enjoying some ice cream (probably for the 5th time in 2 days) outside the Brewster General Store. This place takes you back in time, just awesome.
The last night in the house for everyone was great. BBQ-ing, sitting around talking, kids playing…just as it should be. The night ended with some lanterns being sent into the sky. Beautiful end to a beautiful week.
Onto Boston for about 30 hours. We loved it as well. We crammed about as much into those 30 hours as possible. We were staying across the street from the first official firehouse in the United States and the boys got a chance to “drive” the firetruck.
Here Alex is driving “the duck” around Boston. Great way to see the city in a short amount of time. Not thinking he is taking his job too seriously though.
End to our family adventure. One of the most memorable trips for me, best with the family by far, and hopefully one that we can do again next year.
