What a wedding I got to witness on Saturday! Cristina and Joel met in Malaysia, live in Amsterdam, and got married in Kansas City. She is from Spain and he is from Kansas. Their friends and families came from all over the world to celebrate the marriage of these two wonderful people on Saturday and it was such a pleasure to be the one to document it all.
Here are two images from the day that I feel not only sum up the event but more importantly tell the story.
This image not only captures what Cristina was feeling in the moments leading up to leaving for the ceremony with her father but I love that fact that her father, who traveled from Spain for the wedding, is in the frame holding her daughter. Emotion and significance rolled into one photo.
Perhaps my favorite moment was their first dance. It took place in the field adjacent to the reception venue at The Kelly Gallery just after dusk. Cristina and Joel met in Malaysia and wanted to honor that by having their guests light and release lanterns while they danced their first dance. It was one of the best dances I have ever witnessed. It was also the hardest one I have every had to photograph.
