Best Kansas City Wedding photos 2016 | Celebrating love in 2016

Happy 2017 from Wirken Photography! We hope your year is starting out wonderful. Ours has been a bit crazy hence this best of Kansas City wedding photos of 2016 post coming so late. But as they say better late than never. Tyler had a blast last year working with such wonderful clients. We know all photographers say they love their clients but it truly is what makes the difference for us at Wirken Photography. The trust that is given to us from our clients is paramount to making us one of the luckiest wedding photographers in Kansas City. There is simply no way Tyler could do what he does without that trust. Not only do our clients trust him to be present during sometimes intimate moments but more importantly they trust the decisions he is making on a wedding day allowing him to make the best photos possible. That relationship is crucial and we cannot thank our wonderful couples enough for allowing us to stretch our creativity and really take some risks that more often than not turn into huge rewards. With that we have painstakingly gone through all of our weddings from 2016 and are thrilled to present the rewards of all of that trust. 2016that started on Valentines day and ended on New Years Eve and included cities like Kansas City, Charlotte, Topeka, Edgerton, Kansas, Lees Summit, Brooklyn, New York, and Columbia, Missouri. Thank you from us at Wirken and here’s to 2017!                           ...
Kansas City wedding photography at the Hobbs Building | Teaser Tuesday of Liz and Josh

Kansas City wedding photography at the Hobbs Building | Teaser Tuesday of Liz and Josh

One of my new favorite wedding bands in Kansas City is Twice on Sunday. I have now been at two weddings where they have played and let me tell you they are no joke. They killed it on Saturday at Liz and Josh’s Kansas City wedding at the Hobbs building as well. They are an awesome band that keeps the crowd pumped all night but I am also pretty sure Liz and Josh’s crowd had something to do with it as well. These people can party. It was the perfect way to wrap up such a great wedding day. Here are a few of my favorite images as a little teaser for the couple before we can get all of their images done. Enjoy! Love this angle I found of Liz as she is riding in the limo on her way to the ceremony full of anticipation. Josh’s anticipation as he waits for his bride to come down the aisle.  My first time a bride and groom hired an Uber to take them back to their hotel. It was...

Kansas City wedding at the Hobbs building | Teaser Tuesday of Kate and Chris

It’s Tuesday and it’s time to celebrate Kate and Chris with wedding photography in Kansas City of their nuptials at the Hobbs building on Saturday. These two could not be nicer people and could not nicer families. It was an honor to witness. The happy couple is now on their honeymoon so hopefully they enjoy a few of my favorite images from their big day. Love this moment as Kate’s best friend from high school sneaks a peak as Kate’s mom and sister help her into her dress. Perhaps the most emotional walk down the aisle I have ever witnessed. Kate’s dad has a bit of trouble walking but with the help of his daughter and a cane they both made it down the aisle. Awesome....
Kansas City Wedding photography at the Hobbs | Teaser Tuesday of Alisa and Bill

Kansas City Wedding photography at the Hobbs | Teaser Tuesday of Alisa and Bill

You know what the great thing about being a wedding photographer in Kansas City is? You seriously never know what you are going to get. I mean I have been providing wedding photography in Kansas City to couples for over 13 years and have photographed to many weddings at the Hobbs building to count, but yet I still get surprised each time. Alisa and Bill made that happen again for me this past Saturday. They brought such a great energy to the day and never stopped even after 12 plus hours. It was infectious. Enjoy a few of my favorite images of the day as well as a super special Teaser Tuesday treat. Our very own Kansas City wedding videographer Brandon  of Wirken Films captured that infectious spirit perfectly and shared with us a little teaser video as well. Scroll down to watch how cute these two are.   Alisa and Bill share a moment in a back room of the church minutes after their ceremony.   A very stylish cake cutting. Brandon’s clip of Alisa’s and Bill’s awesome entrance into their reception at the Hobb’s...

Becky and Scott | Kansas City Wedding Photography St. John’s United Methodist Church and Hobbs Building

It was such a joy to be able to photograph Becky and Scott’s wedding for they’re such a down to earth couple surrounded by families and friends who cared and loved them so much.  Their wedding ceremony was held at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Kansas City, one of my favorite churches in Kansas City when it comes to “photographer rules”, that is the church was very accommodating for us to photograph and document real moments.   Wedding is an old tradition but as old as it is each wedding is still full of surprises.  The day started when Becky found a small tear in her wedding gown and there was a brief moment of puzzlement as how the hole happened, however the little accident didn’t faze Becky at all.   I also love it when the whole family got involved in the wedding preparation as can be seen by the excitement of Becky’s niece the flower girl when she finally got dressed and ready for the big show.  The little random subtle moments that seemingly fleeting had become such sweet treats to remember when they were photographed and documented in a split second.   Later in the evening the activities moved to the Hobbs building, one of the most unique and beautiful wedding venues in Kansas City,  for the reception .  Another surprise later in the evening when a glass of wine accidentally spilled onto Becky’s dress but amazingly she took it in stride.  And as the last unplanned surprise the night was concluded when Becky and Scott called a taxi cab to take them away in a drizzling freezing rain.   Becky and her mom...

Becky and Scott’s wedding at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Kansas City was a joy to photograph. The documentary photos I’m showing this time were taken during the wedding reception at the Hobbs building in Kansas City which is one of the most unique and full of characters wedding venues in Kansas City.
