Best Kansas City Wedding photos 2016 | Celebrating love in 2016

Happy 2017 from Wirken Photography! We hope your year is starting out wonderful. Ours has been a bit crazy hence this best of Kansas City wedding photos of 2016 post coming so late. But as they say better late than never. Tyler had a blast last year working with such wonderful clients. We know all photographers say they love their clients but it truly is what makes the difference for us at Wirken Photography. The trust that is given to us from our clients is paramount to making us one of the luckiest wedding photographers in Kansas City. There is simply no way Tyler could do what he does without that trust. Not only do our clients trust him to be present during sometimes intimate moments but more importantly they trust the decisions he is making on a wedding day allowing him to make the best photos possible. That relationship is crucial and we cannot thank our wonderful couples enough for allowing us to stretch our creativity and really take some risks that more often than not turn into huge rewards. With that we have painstakingly gone through all of our weddings from 2016 and are thrilled to present the rewards of all of that trust. 2016that started on Valentines day and ended on New Years Eve and included cities like Kansas City, Charlotte, Topeka, Edgerton, Kansas, Lees Summit, Brooklyn, New York, and Columbia, Missouri. Thank you from us at Wirken and here’s to 2017!                           ...

Sara + Adam | Kansas City wedding photography at the Hawthorne House

I tend to consider myself fairly lucky. Typically I believe you make your own luck as the definition of luck is when preparation meets opportunity. However, sometimes you just plain get lucky. That is exactly how I felt after documenting Sara and Adam’s wedding. My luck was the result of David’s, our associate photographer, bad luck unfortunately. Last fall David was in an accident and was unable to photograph this wedding so I got the call to take over. As sad as I was for David I felt very fortunate to be able to witness Sara and Adam and how they love each other, their friends and their family. It was such a magical day with everyone being so wonderfully open and inviting. It made my job of telling the story quite easy actually. The moments were flowing freely and all I had to do what listen, watch, and wait for everything to come together and it did. Even though I was the ringer Sara and Adam welcomed me with open arms and let me do whatever I needed to in order to make the images necessary. Having that freedom, trust, and access to be where you need to be really makes the difference in the story that can be told. Sara and Adam and their families gave me that and I am forever grateful. This wedding also solidified my belief in the power of the quiet moment. Last night David and I had Sara and Adam in for their viewing party. I love this time to be able to sit with the couple and watch their images...

Teaser Tuesday | Kansas City wedding photography of Sara and Adam

I inherited this wedding from David, the other photographer at Wirken, as he was unable to be there due to a personal issue and frankly I am glad I did. I met Sara and Adam at the studio for the first time about two weeks prior to their wedding. I felt like I had known them my entire life. They are the most sweet, welcoming people which made the difference in the quality of images I was able to make on Saturday during their wedding at the Hawthorne House in Parkville, Missouri. Their wedding was incredible and full of everything a wedding should be in my opinion. Amazing moments were thrown at me constantly and everyone granted the access I needed to be there to document them. So for today’s teaser you get three images. Mainly because I could not decide which one to cut but also because this wedding had so many different emotions I felt it a good idea to pick three images showing that story. Elation. It was amazing how excited and happy their family and friends were for the two of them to have found each other and were now getting married. I love the reaction of the bridesmaid. Enjoyment. They had a rocking dance party. It is amazing what happens when you give adults glow sticks. Emotion. I love this image and is perhaps my favorite of the day. Upon entering their room at a quaint B&B in Parkville Sara and Adam dropped their bags and immediately sat on the floor and held...
