Happy 2017 from Wirken Photography! We hope your year is starting out wonderful. Ours has been a bit crazy hence this best of Kansas City wedding photos of 2016 post coming so late. But as they say better late than never. Tyler had a blast last year working with such wonderful clients. We know all photographers say they love their clients but it truly is what makes the difference for us at Wirken Photography. The trust that is given to us from our clients is paramount to making us one of the luckiest wedding photographers in Kansas City. There is simply no way Tyler could do what he does without that trust. Not only do our clients trust him to be present during sometimes intimate moments but more importantly they trust the decisions he is making on a wedding day allowing him to make the best photos possible. That relationship is crucial and we cannot thank our wonderful couples enough for allowing us to stretch our creativity and really take some risks that more often than not turn into huge rewards. With that we have painstakingly gone through all of our weddings from 2016 and are thrilled to present the rewards of all of that trust. 2016that started on Valentines day and ended on New Years Eve and included cities like Kansas City, Charlotte, Topeka, Edgerton, Kansas, Lees Summit, Brooklyn, New York, and Columbia, Missouri. Kansas City wedding photography at the Hawthorne House | Teaser Tuesday of Emily and Colter

Kansas City wedding photography at the Hawthorne House | Teaser Tuesday of Emily and Colter

This wedding has been a long time coming for me. Back in the day when I used to shoot portraits I had the pleasure of being asked to do Emily’s senior photos. So it was an honor to be asked by Emily to be her wedding photographer as well. Even though a few years had passed Emily and her family were as open, outgoing, and nice as I remembered. Emily and Colter had their wedding at the Hawthorne House in Parkville, Mo and it is always a bit of a homecoming of sorts for me when I return to that particular venue as that is where I got married 13 years ago. Photographing weddings at the Hawthorne House always takes me back plus the staff there still remembers me and always makes us feel welcome. So it was no surprise that Emily and Colter’s family and friends acted in the same welcoming manner to us that day. Like always, Emily and Colter’s wedding was filled with love and laughter and it was a joy to witness. Here are a few of my favorite Hawthorne House wedding photos from the day. Enjoy!   I loved the look on Colter’s face when he first laid eyes on his bride as she made her way down the aisle to him. That moment when your dad mentions in his speech he is about to belt out in song only to find out it was just a joke. Emily and her sister react in pure embarrassment.  Love this moment of Emily and Colter as they rode the bus to their hotel along following their...

Teaser Tuesday | Kansas City wedding photography of Sara and Adam

Words cannot describe Sara and Adam and how amazing they are. I inherited this wedding from David, the other photographer at Wirken, as he was unable to be there due to a personal issue and frankly I am glad I did. I met Sara and Adam at the studio for the first time about two weeks prior to their wedding. I felt like I had known them my entire life. They are the most sweet, welcoming people which made the difference in the quality of images I was able to make on Saturday during their wedding at the Hawthorne House in Parkville, Missouri. Their wedding was incredible and full of everything a wedding should be in my opinion. Amazing moments were thrown at me constantly and everyone granted the access I needed to be there to document them. So for today’s teaser you get three images. Mainly because I could not decide which one to cut but also because this wedding had so many different emotions I felt it a good idea to pick three images showing that story. Elation. It was amazing how excited and happy their family and friends were for the two of them to have found each other and were now getting married. I love the reaction of the bridesmaid. Enjoyment. They had a rocking dance party. It is amazing what happens when you give adults glow sticks. Emotion. I love this image and is perhaps my favorite of the day. Upon entering their room at a quaint B&B in Parkville Sara and Adam dropped their bags and immediately sat on the floor and held...
