Kansas City Wedding Reception at The Hobbs Building

Kansas City Wedding Reception at The Hobbs Building

I love photographing wedding receptions at The Hobbs building in Kansas City but what I love more is this family. I had the privilege of meeting Grace’s family when I had the pleasure of photographing her sister Liz’s wedding a little over a year ago. They are such a joy to witness. Not only are they pros at putting on a wedding after doing it 4 times they know how to throw a party. I joked with all 4 sisters how they were like wedding getting ready professionals. It was amazing. No one really talked that much and yet everyone knew what needed to be done and where each person needed to be. They were like a well oiled machine. Plus the 4 sisters have a special bond that was a joy to witness and photograph. It was all about family this day down to the tradition of carrying two dimes grandma saved down the aisle. One dime was given to her by her father before he walked her down the aisle and the other was found on her honeymoon. Each of the sisters have carried those dimes down the aisle. I love stories like that. It really is what makes being a wedding photographer in Kansas City worth it. Grace and Colin were the last wedding for this family and they went out with a bang with their wedding reception at the Hobbs Building in Kansas City and with the help of my new favorite band Twice on Sunday. Congrats Grace and Colin and enjoy some of my favorite images!...
Kansas City Family Photography

Kansas City Family Photography

This was my second time doing Kansas City family photography for the Sikich family and it was just as good as the first time. The big difference is the first time I documented them they were a family of 3 and now they are 4. That was about one year ago before baby Austen was born and they wanted another photo album to add to their first session with Austen included. What better time to shoot Austen than on her actual 1st birthday. Perfect timing. I love this family and how they interact. Never a dull moment. Throw in some messy birthday shenanigans and you have the prefect recipe for some documentary family photography. These Kansas City family photography sessions are what we call Normal Day Sessions. I spent the afternoon with them as they did what they typically do on a Friday. Hanging out at the beer garden, the park, and taking a walk around the neighborhood were all on the agenda allowing for the perfect snippet of their lives they can look back on years down the road. What’s so great about these sessions are that there is ZERO posing or direction from the photographer. Making for a perfectly relaxing session devoid of any sort of bribery or threats. Just real moments. Enjoy some of my favs of their...
The Elms wedding photography

The Elms wedding photography

A day late on Teaser Tuesday but that doesn’t mean I am not super excited to share Sophie and Tim’s The Elms wedding I documented last weekend. This was a special one for me as I have been photographing the bride’s family for many years. It started with Sophie’s senior photos that then led to her brother’s wedding as well as her sister’s wedding. So to get the call to photograph Sophie and Tim’s wedding at The Elms was special. I love being able to witness a family change over the years. It was the perfect event for these two. Even though the weather threw us a curve ball Sophie and Tim made the best of it and all went perfectly after that. It was actually my first time as a wedding photographer in Kansas City to do a wedding at the Elms and I loved it there. Such a great old hotel with a wonderful staff. All of that combines to make the day that much easier. Here are a few of my favorite images from my first wedding at The Elms in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Congrats Sophie and Tim and enjoy your teaser! The photos-...
Kansas City Loose Mansion Wedding Photography

Kansas City Loose Mansion Wedding Photography

Today I am super excited to present my favorite images from Leah and Nevin’s Loose Mansion Wedding in Kansas City. Loose Mansion in Kansas City is one of my favorite wedding venues to work at. I have been a wedding photographer for the past 15 years and the folks at Loose Mansion have always been a joy to work with. I also love the history of the Mansion. It is always so cool to think that at one time Loose Mansion was the private home of Jacob Loose and his wife. The last time I was there I was eating dinner in what used to be their bedroom complete with a small safe that was to keep Mrs. Loose’s jewelry away from thieves. It is fun to be able to work in such a historical place. Lean and Nevin really embraced the history of Loose Mansion buy taking it one step further and having their wedding ceremony at Loose Park in Kansas City. Loose Park is a beautiful plot of land located in midtown Kansas City that was donated by Mrs. Loose in memory of her husband. So it was only fitting that Leah and Nevin had their ceremony at the park and their reception back at the Mansion. Most brides who plan an outdoor dread rain. Not Leah. In fact she seemed to wish for it. We were watching as the radar was showing a massive green and yellow storm come over Kansas City and Loose Park where the ceremony was to take place. At literally the 11th hour Leah decided to make the call and continue with...

Kansas City Wedding Photography

Paige and Logan got married in Kansas City this weekend. Twice. Well they actually only had one Kansas City wedding ceremony but they celebrated their marriage over two days and it was quite epic. Two days of celebration that included one ceremony, two dresses, one tux, one groom’s suit with a pink tie, three locations, a limo bus, an arcade, and a party like no other. It all started Friday as the couple said their I do’s in an intimate wedding ceremony with just those closest to them at Loose Mansion in Kansas City and continued Saturday with a reception and crazy party at the Shadow Glen Golf Club at Cedar Creek in Olathe, Kansas. Paige and Logan wanted the best of both worlds for their wedding in Kansas City and they figured out how to do just that. They turned their celebration into a weekend packed full of everything they wanted. Two days of those closest to them, a trip to Up Down arcade in the Cross Roads District with their friends, and moments that will last a lifetime. Congrats Paige and Logan! Enjoy some of my favorite images as a teaser to hold you off till you get back from your honeymoon! Paige reads a note from Logan minutes before walking down the aisle for her Kansas City wedding ceremony at Loose Mansion. The happy couple enters their reception at Shadow Glen Gold Club. The crowd goes crazy during the newlywed game at the Kansas City wedding reception at Shadow Glen Golf Club.  Paige’s brother sang the father/daughter dance. After some time hanging out at Up/Down with their bridal...
