Uptown Theater Kansas City same sex wedding photos | Teaser Tuesday

Epic is the only word to describe Michael and Stephen’s wedding on Saturday at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City. These two threw the party of parties to celebrate their love with those closest to them. Sarah Quinlivan, with Quintessential Event Planning, along with Michael and Stephen pulled off the incredible event that comprised of performances by MoonDrop Circus  that included fire spinners, aerial acrobatics, and performers on stilts. Epic till the end. Enjoy some of my favorite images from the day. Photo by: David Tsai | Wirken...

Happy 2017 from Wirken Photography! We hope your year is starting out wonderful. Ours has been a bit crazy hence this best of Kansas City wedding photos of 2016 post coming so late. But as they say better late than never. Tyler had a blast last year working with such wonderful clients. We know all photographers say they love their clients but it truly is what makes the difference for us at Wirken Photography. The trust that is given to us from our clients is paramount to making us one of the luckiest wedding photographers in Kansas City. There is simply no way Tyler could do what he does without that trust. Kansas City Same Sex wedding photography | Teaser Tuesday of Clint and Evan’s wedding at Mildale Farms

Kansas City Same Sex wedding photography | Teaser Tuesday of Clint and Evan’s wedding at Mildale Farms

A day late but hey it’s busy season. Teaser Tuesday on a Wednesday today. I had the pleasure of documenting Clint and Evan’s wedding this past weekend at Mildale Farms. This was to by my second time as a same sex wedding photographer in Kansas City, Missouri but my first time documenting two men getting married. I must say both times I have been asked to document a same sex wedding I have felt different. These events are just different. I mean if you boil it down it is all the same. Two people in love surrounded by people supporting their union acting as witnesses to their love. I think it boils down to Clint and Evan’s story. It was a story of true love and unwavering support from friends and family that went deeper than normal. It seems with both same sex weddings in Kansas City that I have been the photographer for there seemed more on the line. Clint and Evan’s Mildale Farms wedding was a celebration of overcoming adversity and finding the person that makes it all make sense. Enjoy a few of my favorite images from the day. Clint helps Evan with his bow tie prior to their ceremony at Mildale Farms. Perhaps my favorite image from the day. Evan and Clint walked into the ceremony seperately down a long path. I love how all of this lined up on a picture perfect day.  Clint reacting to Evan’s amazing vows he wrote. It was a very emotional day. This image sums it all up for me showing the love not only between Clint and Evan...
Kansas City same sex wedding photography at the Midland Theater

Kansas City same sex wedding photography at the Midland Theater

I don’t always blog on a Saturday but when I do it is for good reason. Not only is my excitement to share this wedding story with you through the roof but I am also proud to know these two women and to have been a part of this amazing event. Hailee and Tiffany came into the studio yesterday to view their Kansas City wedding photographs from their New Years Eve Wedding at the Midland Theater in Kansas City and now I am able to show all of you. This wedding was particularly special for me in many ways. Not only was it the last wedding Wirken Photography documented for Hailee’s family it was also my first Kansas City same sex wedding. It was the perfect way to end the year after so much had changed in the arena of equality for the LGBT community. On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution guarantees the right for same-sex couples to marry in all 50 US states and on December 31st, 2015 myself and about 150 others got the chance to witness the power of that decision. #lovewins is no joke. I have witnessed countless types of love in my 13 year career as a wedding photographer in Kansas City and one thing is undeniable. People love differently. Some love PDA some don’t, some couples party together, some pray together. Love truly has no boundaries and that could not be more true for Hailee and Tiffany. I got to witness a different type of love I have not witnessed before between these two and it...
